Live Aboard Dive Trips

A "Live Aboard" Dive Vessel is simply a Dive boat trip that you stay on for an extended period of time.
These trips can occur over a weekend (2 days, 2 nights) or during the week and can be arranged for groups or singles, it is just a matter of giving us a call.

Big Cat Reality Trips:

When you arrive at Newport Waterways Marina and board Big Cat Reality, you will be amazed at the size of the boat and how well it is setup. It is surprising to see how much work and thought that has gone into setting up this vessel for diving operations.

Once on board, you will be directed to your comfortable bunk room which is air conditioned to a constant 21 degrees (warmer in winter). It is usually best to stow your personal items first, you will also notice that all bunks have fresh sheets and towel, a nice quilt and pillow.

After the sleeping arrangements have been meet, it‘s best to sort out your dive gear and assemble everything for the weekends diving. Big Cat has a very roomy dive deck which can sit 24 divers back to back and side to side across the back of the boat, there is plenty of room for gearing up.

Before she steams out, you will be asked to meet in the Lounge/bar area. Here the "Master" will greet you and introduce you to the crew, safety features, and an orientation of the boat. After he is finished he hands over to your Dive Master/Instructor for a quick diving brief. During this time you are also presented with lite supper before the cruise across the bay, the rest of the evening is yours to mingle and chat with your fellow divers.

Looking around the boat you will also notice a forward lounge with whiteboard, a bar area that is fully licensed with a good selection of beer, spirits, soft drinks. In the rear lounge, which is next to the bar, you have a wide screen TV with DVD player with a good selection of movies to watch between dives. You have 2 toilets per sex to use, and 5 showers with hot water. There is "The Party Deck" for sunning yourself or for partners of non-divers that come on-board. You have 240 Volt power outlets all round the boat for charging cameras, laptops and even hair dryers.

Food, the one thing that divers love is plenty of room to get gear on and off, the other thing is FOOD. Be rest assured there is plenty of food served up and constantly. After each dive there is something on offer along with the hot main meals, morning teas, fresh fruit platters, home made cooking to name but a few.

Big Cat has its own excellent tagging system to keep track of divers in the water. There are 2 main entry points and a huge submersible steps for getting out of the water, the crew even help you into and out off the water.

You will get in 7-9 dives during the weekend and that includes a night dive if preferred. Big Cat is the perfect boat for completing an Advanced course or a Speciality course during the weekend and goes to most of the great spots that Brisbane has to offer.
All divers are required to provide: A certification card, dive knife, dive slate, and a safety sausage.
Included in your trip is all your dives, air fills, meals, accommodation, linen and dive supervision; the only thing you have to bring is your personal gear and dive gear.
If dive gear is required DiveXsite will have hire gear available but please let us know before hand and we will bring it along for you.

At various times during the year Big Cat heads north for some special dive trips; these occur for the Christmas and New Year's period, Easter, and some special event trips during the year.
