The DiveXsite Instructor Traineeship program is an excellent way for you to gain the necessary experience and skills to become an SSI Open Water Instructor.
Over two weeks, you will get hands-on experience in the classroom, dive shop, pool, and open water, working with actual students and divers.
A week prior to starting your course, you will be given your books and study materials to prepare yourself. The course structure is as follows:
WEEK 1
Monday - Wednesday - introduction, course outline, theory
Thursday - pool skills
Friday - self-study
Saturday/Sunday - sit in on an actual pool session with real students
WEEK 2
Monday- Wednesday - theory
Thursday - further training
Friday - self-study
Saturday - IE
ITC candidates are required to have the following:
- all dive gear, serviced and in good working condition
- a current professional dive medical (AS2299)
- current First Aid, O2, CPR certifications*
- Med Dive certification*
*You can arrange to do your 1st Aid, CPR, O2 and Med Dive courses with DiveXsite, however, your IE will only be booked after you have obtained all the above certifications.
