Advanced Open Water:

Enrolling in the Advanced Open Water course is your next step to adventure. It takes you deeper into diving, improves your navigation and introduces you to new and exciting areas of recreational diving. You get to select which types of diving you want to try, and under the close supervision of a dive professional you go out and do it! The Advanced course is about diving, diving and most of all enjoying diving. No classroom sessions, no long lectures, just diving. The only test for this course is to come back. In the Advanced course you complete 5 open water dives each a different aspect of diving. You will have 2 mandatory dives (Navigation and Deep) and 3 dives of your choice. They can be Wreck Diving, Night Diving, Search and Recovery, Boat diving, Multi-level, Dry-suit, Underwater Naturalist, Photography, Videographer, and Peak performance buoyancy.

As an Advanced Diver it is now a good idea to start thinking about obtaining your own personal dive equipment. Most divers have at least bought themselves a mask, snorkel, fins and boots. You will be required to have a slate and a dive torch for this course.

As I said earlier there is no exams or long lectures. However, each dive has its own section in the Adventures in Diving manual; at the end of the section there is a quick knowledge review to complete.

The course is completed once all 5 dives and knowledge reviews have been completed. This can be done on a liveaboard trip or over a couple of weekends, your choice.
