Christmas Already!

From everyone here at DiveXsite, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support through the year.

We would also like to wish you a wonderful and safe Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

General News - in brief

Well you are probably sick of hearing how busy we are, but it's true. More new divers and a good number of divers continuing their diving education through DiveXsite keeps me in the water. I love it, taking people on their first dives or their 100th dive, still has a great
feeling and plenty to show.

For example on a tech dive off the south coast last month we had dolphins come and sit on the
deco line with us, truly amazing. They were probably just as surprised to see us there as we were to see them. You often see dolphins swimming around while on a dive trip but it is rare to actually see them in the water while you are there. This will go down as a highlight in my dive logbook.

Last Saturday while diving the St. Paul, we encountered a school of 200 or more yellow tail king fish which completely engulfed as divers, amazing stuff. Last Sunday we had 9 new open water divers completing their final dives, they got to see turtles and wobbiegong sharks, nudibranch's,
corals, sponges, stingrays, bull rays, and plenty more all for the first time, smiles all round.

Our Big Cat trips are still filling fast, with spaces for January's trip already near full. We can still get an few extra spaces for this weekends trip if anyone is wanting to have a good diving weekend.

The Monday Club is out and about; our last trip to Byron Bay was just fantastic, the water was a little cool but the presence of grey nurse sharks, huge bull rays and massive turtles we soon forgot about the cold.
Thanks to everyone for coming along.

Social
Night has had to be moved to Thursday 6th this month due to a prior booking.

Straddie Weekend, the final one for this year and it should prove to be a fun weekend with the Manta Rays and leopard sharks in plentiful numbers and the water warming to 24 degrees already!

Christmas Party: Feb 2nd-3rd:

Christmas already!
How quickly it has come around and with so much happening around Xmas, DiveXsite is having it's
Xmas party in February '08. The DiveXsite Christmas party should be a fun one. There will be a treasure hunt with some good prizes to be won on the Saturday dives with a bbq dinner to follow on Saturday night. Cost will be just $125 for the accm and Saturday's dives (Sundays dive is extra). Yes it's in February '08.

We have managed to obtain both premises at Point Lookout, which gives us sleeping for 24 over the
weekend. Dive trips will be on Saturday, with the option of dives on Sunday for those who feel up to it.

Should be a fun and exciting weekend, bookings are available now and required as numbers are
limited.

Big Cat Weekend Liveaboard Trips:

Enjoy 8 dives on this action packed weekend as our boat explores the water in the beautiful Moreton Bay Marine Park, visiting spectacular reefs and wrecks. We spend 2 days and 2 nights onboard, diving, hanging out and generally having a damn good time! This is a great opportunity for those of you wanting to do your Advanced Open Water course. What better way to do it than on a liveaboard trip? The course consists of 5 Adventure Dives, with the option of starting specialties in Enriched Air, Deep, Wreck or Night Diving.

The next 2 trips are on 8-9 Dec and 19-20 Jan.

Overseas Trips:

2008 sees us going on 2 overseas trips so far. Our first trip is in April, 6th-14th to Espiritu Santo for 9 days. The President Coolidge is an awesome dive, just a short walk from the beach and you are diving to some of the most fantastic diving available in Vanuatu. Primarily a wreck dive there is plenty to see for everyone and one of the
"must" do dive sights of the world. For more details see the events calendar.

Our second trip is to Truk Lagoon for 12 days, diving some of the worlds best dive sites. Warm water, great place and fantastic diving, this trip is one not to miss out on. Besides the fun dives we will be running specialty dive courses such as deep, video and wreck along with tech courses of decompression, trimix and our own FULL wreck penetration courses. If you are interested in the trip please let us know as soon as possible. We have 4 names on this trip already.

Dive Holidays

Espiritu Santo:

9 days/ 8 night's ex. Brisbane......6 - 14 April ‘08

An hour's flight from Vila, Santo is Vanuatu's largest island. It offers world class reef dives, superb visibility, warm water and amazing diversity of sites.

The cost starts from $1875 and includes: return flights ex. Brisbane to Santo flying with Air Vanuatu, return airport transfers in Santo, 8 nights dorm share accommodation at Deco Stop Lodge - Santo, daily continental breakfast, 10 dives (8 shore and
2 boat) including tanks, weights, belts and dive guide services (diving with Aquamarine), a free night dive on Aquamarine Reef, free camera downloading and CD/DVD burning, and Australian and Vanuatu departure taxes.

Truk Lagoon

12 days/ 10 night's ex. Cairns......5 - 17 October

Truk Lagoon's wrecks are truly unique. Nowhere else in the world lies a sunken fleet accessible to the novice diver. The calm, clear, sheltered lagoon, relatively free of currents, provides safe, easy diving conditions. One thing that makes Truk such a spectacular attraction to today's visitor is precisely what made Truk so important to the Japanese Navy during WWII. Its magnificent 2104 square km lagoon, whose sheltered waters provided the Imperial Fleet with its most formidable base outside Japan, now holds an entire Japanese fleet, frozen in time, where it sank in February 1944.

The cost of this trip starts from $2969. The price includes return flights ex. Cairns - Guam - Truk with Continental Airlines, 10 nights twin-share accommodation at Blue Lagoon Resort - Truk, return airport transfers in Truk, 16 boat dives (2 dives per day) including tanks, weights, belts and dive guide services, a welcome drink upon check-in, use of a kayak, island history session, complimentary
lunch on last day of stay in Chuuk, and a Truk Lagoon dive permit.

With such awesome trips coming up, what are you waiting for? Limited spots available, book now to secure a spot!
