For Diving, Brisbane would have to be the most missed out and totally the most underrated place for diving.
Brisbane has it all with some of the best dive sites available to divers, wrecks and reef, tropical water, good visibility and a huge variety of marine life. We have some of the prettiest and most unspoilt coral reefs around and all in close to pristine condition. If its wrecks you’re after then we have them too, ranging from 10mtrs to as far down as 100mtrs.
We are pretty lucky in this part and proud of our diving here, there really isn’t any need to fly thousands of kilometres to dive on the "reef", it's all right here.
Water temperature ranges from 26°C in summer to 20°C in winter.
Visibility can range from 6 meters to 40 meters - the further you venture from shore, the cleaner the water. That’s not to say you won’t experience beautifully clean water at some of our shore dive sites.
Brisbane is renowned for its diverse seasons of marine life. In the summer months we have the visiting Manta Rays and Leopard Sharks while in the winter we have the endangered Grey Nurse Shark, between seasons we have huge numbers of migrating turtles and humpback whales.
Ocean Cat Trips, Moreton Bay area.
The Ocean Cat is a 40 ft Cat that caters for up to 12 divers with ample seating space for your comfort. It has an on-board toilet and shower room, with a spacious galley, TV & Video plus a nice deck area for sunning.
Your trip includes tea, coffee, sausage rolls and cake after the first dive while a full lunch (hot chicken, chips, salad, bread rolls and ice cream for dessert) is prepared for you after your second dive.
Ocean Cat heads out to the beautiful Flinders Reef and Moreton Bay Marine Park and visits sites such as
Hutchinson's Reef, Henderson's, China Wall, Cherub's Cave, Cement Co, and The St Paul; sites that are not frequented by other vessels.
If the weather permits we also have the availability of Curtin Artificial Reef, Tangalooma Wrecks and other favorite sites inside the bay, all sites offer a fun filled day of diving.
We provide a courtesy bus, 2 tanks and weights for you to enjoy fun filled day. Our bus departs from Stafford at 6.00am. Ocean Cat departs from Newport Waterways Marina at 7.30am.
Gold Coast / Tweed Coast area.
DiveXsite uses Fingal charters, truly a great operation and one which we have been associated with for over 8 years.
Our trips leave the dive shop at 6.00am, a departure from the Fingal boat shed is around 8.00am. We will go to the most favourable sites depending on the sea conditions. During your surface interval you can enjoy a morning tea break consisting of tea, coffee, Milo, or soup with biscuits and cake, before heading back in for your second dive. Upon return you can wash and dry your gear, have a warm shower and a light BBQ lunch is also provided while we sit and chat about the days dives. We then head back to Brisbane in the comfort of our bus.
Total of 10 divers, 2 dive crew and boat crew.
North Straddie Weekend Trips
Come for the weekend or just a day, a relaxing North Stradbroke Island Weekend is just what you need. On Saturday morning we depart Brisbane for our weekend of island diving only 45mins by ferry from the mainland. Our accommodation is a house at Point Lookout, not a backpacker hostel. The house has 2 double bedrooms and sleeping for 8 or more. We will gear up at the house and depart for a double boat dive exploring the reefs & marine life that Straddie has to offer. You may get to dive with the Grey Nurse Sharks, Leopard Sharks, see a whale or two, or dive with the magnificent Manta Rays all before heading back to chill out at the house or explore this historical island at your leisure.
On Saturday night we usually head out for dinner to one of the local eateries, have a few drinks and chat about your latest dive adventures. On Sunday morning we spend another exciting day exploring Straddie underwater life at Shag Rock, Flat Rock or Manta Ray Bommie on a double boat dive before begrudgingly heading back to the house to wash gear and prepare for the trip back home.
All you need to bring for the weekend is your dive gear, a change of clothes, sleeping bag, snack food and a sense of humour.
The weekend includes; 4 boat dives, transfers to and from the island (if travelling on our bus), tanks and accommodation. If you are coming for the day only and need transportation, you will need to make arrangements with us on the Friday night.
